3 Ways Faith in God Can Change Your Life

raised hands because faith in God

When all hope seems lost, it is easy to begin drowning in overwhelm. We wonder, now what! Life seemed to be going smoothly and then suddenly, it wasn’t. That can be one of the most difficult times to continue to have faith in God.

Whether you’ve been a believer for a day or a decade, your faith will be tested time and time again. Jesus tells us all we need is to have faith the size of a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20). But is that really all it takes to make a powerful, victorious change in your life? Yes.

When I lost my corporate job, my world came crashing down on me. My position had produced 60% of my family’s income. It’s never an ideal time to have a life crisis, but I kept my faith that God had a plan for me. I just needed to sit with Him, let Him lead me, and shine a light on my path.

If you’re like I was and your life has been shaken, it would be my honor to guide you to an understanding of how faith in God can change your life.

What is Faith in God?

Faith in God is unwavering confidence that God’s plans are bigger than the plans we currently have for ourselves; bigger than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). While it may seem that we are on a path that was meant for us, if we aren’t listening to God’s voice of direction, then we aren’t truly on the right path. Having faith means to trust in God, to believe, and to hope for all of what God has for us, even when we can’t see it yet (Hebrews 11:1).

God is greater than we are and He has a plan for each of us. Therefore, God’s promises are greater, stronger, and more victorious than the purpose we choose for ourselves. Faith will guide you towards the right path, which will lead you to find your true calling and purpose.

How Can I Have Faith in God?

The first step in having faith in God is to start with faith the size of a mustard seed. Faith isn’t just crossing your fingers and hoping for the best; it is much deeper, stronger, and spiritual. When your present doesn’t match God’s promises, faith is refusing to accept things as they are because you know, without a doubt, the Lord is working on something larger than you can even imagine.

Oftentimes, we develop a life plan for ourselves based on our dreams or desires. And many of us are shocked when our dreams come crashing down. However, when life seems to be crumbling around us, it is in those moments when our faith can grow even stronger. Hold onto God’s word, trust in Him, and His plan will be revealed to you. Allow His good and perfect will to be done in your life (Romans 12:2).

3 Ways Faith in God Can Change Your Life

Five years following the loss of my job, everything changed for me. Your life can change too when you have unshakable faith in God.

1. Your Life Becomes Purposeful

This isn't the purpose that you imagine for yourself; this is your true, unwavering purpose that God has planned for you. My story of losing my job isn’t unique, we all have our own struggles - those trials, transitions, and things that didn’t go according to plan. However, it’s the way you respond to those challenges that make the difference.

Sometimes, When we face trials like this, we have a tantrum because life is not going the way we want, it is NOT what we planned, or the way we envisioned. God promises us if we trust in Him, He will work all things out for our good (Romans 8:28). This means God weaves even these trials into our life’s purpose.

2. You are at Peace All the Time

Gone are the days of feeling anxious, unnerved, and discouraged. Imagine being at peace all the time because you live in the word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you.

Having faith isn’t just for the days when life is good. It is also for the days when life is unpredictable and when life falls apart. That is when faith is tested and when you have to choose to hold onto God’s promises.

Let God lead you in your time with Him each day. Acknowledge Him throughout the day as you witness His work. Let His peace fill you and become part of you.

3. Faith in God Gives You Strength

Strength means more than physical strength. The strength faith gives is much deeper and provides unmatched stability. This strength is the inner strength to face any challenge that comes your way.

It’s grasping onto God in the middle of the struggle and using the strength He gives you to propel you forward into your real purpose. This is what having faith in God is all about.

All You Need is Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed

To have faith means you accept that there are plans bigger than you thought possible, plans that are bigger than you can ask or imagine; plans that God is working out for you. It’s acknowledging that even though you can’t see or understand the reason for the trials you are facing, He is still with you and He promises to carry you through.

If you are facing these challenges and finding it difficult to have faith, I encourage you to ROAR Back and transform your struggle into strength. Only through faith will you see God’s plans unfold, feel His peace when life falls apart, and get His strength to keep moving forward. There is no greater power than the power of God. Through Him, anything is possible.

How will you begin to have faith in God now? I pray these declarations into your life and that they may guide you in finding your victory.
